please help me in my dilema, cant write up my evaluations fully is there no one out there who knows about play theorists in child development.

My doctoral professor, Dr. Gary Landreth has written several excellent books on play therapy. There are several written by different authors, do a search at your nearest university library. This will probably not be found on the web.

I’m not sure about modern play theorists. Piaget was a major theorist in play. He saw play as the the means by which the child’s learning comes together and helps the child to make sense of the world. He identified the following stages in play development:
Sensory motor play- (birth to 18 months) using senses and movement
Symbolic play- (18 months to 5 years) -where one thing stands for another
Cooperative play (5-8 years)- using games with rules.

Hope that helps a bit. xxx
