conspiracy theorists believe Alice in wonderland is about the effects of hallucinogenic drugs?
i.e magic mushrooms.
If it is true, how come I have seen this play more times in the Church group plays than anywhere else?
I believe this whole nonsense started with a movie titled "Go Ask Alice". Which was about a teenage girl’s spiral into drugs in the 60s. "White Rabbit" was a song featured in the movie, played by Jefferson Airplane. The lyrics mentioned the White Rabbit, one pill making you larger, while one pill makes you small, etc. All allusions to Alice in Wonderland.
So this theory grew out of the 60s – when a lot of people were doing hallucinogenic drugs, and therefore believed that only another druggie could come up with such a bizarre story. The truth of the matter is, Dodgson was an Aquarian. And as a fellow Aquarian, I can safely say – we’re all as mad as hatters (ie we don’t need drugs).

Yep, these are the same cretins that believe in aliens, the earth is flat, man has not been to the moon and an invisible sky fairy.
Oh and church groups are the biggest hypocrytes on the planet anyway, so even if it about drugs, churches are not going to let a little thing like that worry them. They have allowed debortary toward our innocent children to take place for over 2000 years. Why would a play be different.

it is a fact that the author Lewis Carrol was a prolific user of narcotics as were a lot of victorians at that time and so the connection is made

Well, some times a story is a great story no matter the source!
These are the same people who dissect The Wizard of Oz and say it’s anti-male/pro-fem!!

Literary nonsense doesn’t have to be inspired by drugs. Lewis Carroll was inspired, partly, by mathematics.
Who do you think Lewis Carroll might have been conspiring with? Else why would conspiracy theorists be interested?

No, It’s not true. This idea came out of the drug-use culture of the 60’s, as was used more as a justification, or a foil against the establishment (parents / government) of the time. The author was writing in England around the time of our Civil War. He was a teacher of Math and Logic. I have one of his logic books. He almost became an Anglican Priest. He was not person into drugs. He did suffer from migraine headaches by many accounts.

because alice takes a pill and then goes to "wonder land".. but Caroll was never addicted to anything, you should look up his bio! He was named a decon at his church by a bishop that is why they play it in church more times than anywhere else… Alice was also one of his daughter’s names!
